Mesingwe is the forest guardian spirit of the Lenape, one of the Algonquin tribes who originally inhabited the Mid-Atlantic region of Eastern North America (Hudson River Valley, New York Metro area, New Jersey, and Eastern PA). Mesingwe is particularly associated with the stewardship of game animals, especially deer.
